Board certified Neurofeedback Practitioner and Trauma Psychotherapist

Tom Portney has been a psychotherapist specializing in trauma and complementary healing since 1975. He completed his B.A. in English and Psychology in 1971, his M.A. in Counseling and Psychology in 1975, and all but his dissertation for his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1980. He has taught and worked as a psychologist at several universities, coordinated a sexual abuse/domestic violence treatment team for community mental health, and has been in private practice in the CSRA since 1988.

Tom has post-doctoral training in clinical hypnosis, pre and perinatal psychology, internal family therapy, Psychomotor-Integrative psychotherapy, Reiki, Stage oriented trauma treatment, Shamanic/indigenous healing, and EEG neurofeedback. He conducts trainings and workshops on a regular basis. He has done a range of psychological evaluations over the past 30 years.
